
Barbara McCrane received her teaching certification upon completion of three years’ work at the American Center for the Alexander Technique in New York City. She went on to complete postgraduate Alexander work at the Constructive Teaching Centre in London. While in England, Barbara was very fortunate to study with Glynn MacDonald, Lucia Walker, Elisabeth Walker, and Walter Carrington. Ms. McCrane has been a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music since 2005. She has taught classes at the Actors Studio Drama School, the Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey, the Diller-Quaille School of Music, the Juilliard School Evening Division, and the 92nd Street Y. Barbara has taught workshops with The U.S. Marine Band, Barnard College Music Dept., Manhattanville College Music Dept. and Hofstra University Music Dept. The primary focus of Ms. McCrane’s private practice is performing artists, both students and working professionals. Her acting résumé includes work in theater, television, commercials, and voice-overs. She has performed in musical theater productions both in New York and at regional theatres, including the Williamstown Theater Festival, the Pittsburgh Public Theater, and the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival.
